I managed to get a rare Saturday off. So I had to make the best of it. I called up my boys Seth and Tricky and we made plans to hit the Baltimore Irish Festival put on by the Irish Charities of Maryland. This was the first year they’ve held the festival at the state fairgrounds in Timonium, MD. I gotta say I was impressed. The fairgrounds were infinately better than the old Armory they used in the past.
I swung by Tricky’s and picked up him and Seffus. I wanted to check out an irish bar that was right next to the fairgrounds called An Poitin Stil. As we got out of the car, Seth started laughing and pointed to a pile of puke in front of our parking spot. I knew right then and there I was going to feel at home. I really liked the place. It’s one of the nicer bars I’ve been in and just has a good overall feel to the place. I’m gonna head there some weekend, when I have the time to get a hotel room and stay the night.
After a few beers at the Stil, we decided it was time to hit the festival. The new venue is friggin HUGE. They said it was the largest indoor irish festival in the United States and I believe them! There were vendors everywhere and several stages for live entertainment. Our plan was to get there around 4 or so and hang out until Off the Boat was done playing. If you ever get a chance to see them, do it. Great band. Note to self: Slow & steady wins the race. Pace yourself, Marc. As soon as we got there, I started sucking down beers like they had the antidote. Then Tricky introduced Jamesons and Wild Turkey Honey shots into the mix. I was pretty much retarded in no time. I didn’t remember molesting the Guinness mascot until I looked at my camera today. I had a great time and got to drunk talk to a shitload of new people. Can’t wait until next year.
Props to Seth and Tricky for getting me back to my car and driving my sorry ass home.
I’m uploading the pictures now. Check back shortly.
